NMFS data is organized into three main categories: Trawl, Observer, and Essential Fish Habitat.
For the Trawl data, files are organized by NMFS Science Center region. Data structures and available fields vary by region. For Observer data, files will ultimately be organized by region. However, currently Observer data is only available for the Alaska region. Essential Fish Habitat data consists of one main national shapefile which includes species-specific habitat layers, and several associated reference files required for working with the shapefile.
