As a member of the NOAA Big Data Project, IBM devotes resources to help NOAA develop innovative approaches to unleash the full potential of its massive data stores. IBM intends to do this via a viable business model that creates a self-sustaining market ecosystem where industry:

IBM is pleased to announce its new NOAA Earth Systems Data Portal
The portal provides a web interface where users can select and download data that is of interest to them.
Users can choose to browse either NOAA data already available for download, or a subset of NOAA data IBM has already begun to investigate in an exploratory fashion.
IBM oﬀers two ways to download NOAA data ﬁles. Users can choose to download the data via Web Browser or via REST API Download. In order to download NOAA data ﬁles, users will need to create an account on this website.
